Nose Art
Original Halifax Nose Art Collection

Halifax (serial NP755) was delivered to No. 432 Squadron on 15 August 44. The aircraft completed 28 operations until it was severely damaged while landing on 18 November 44 (pilot F/O A. Clarke). Nineteen of these operations were flown by the crew of F/O W. Saye who originated the name and nose art. The 30th operation was flown by W/C J. MacDonald to Duisburg. Following this operation the artist painted operational wings (a "tour" for a crew was thirty operations) plus a large red heart with a single wing.

Avenging Angel finished the war with 70 operations, the last to Wangerooge on 25 May 1945.
